Alcohol Overuse Studies

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a medical condition characterized by an impaired ability to stop or control alcohol use despite adverse social, occupational, or health consequences.

Chronic, heavy alcohol consumption is the leading cause of Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease (ALD). As alcohol is processed by the liver, it produces toxic chemicals and contributes to inflammation, leading to scarring (fibrosis) that impairs the liver's ability to function.

Alcohol Use Disorder creates a direct and progressive pathway toward life-threatening liver damage, making the management of the underlying alcohol dependence critical for preventing or reversing the progression of Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease.
